The 2025 Radiation Safety Users’ Group (RSUG) Conference brought together radiation safety officers, regulators, industry leaders, and radiation users from across Australia to explore this year’s theme: Industrial Radiation Safety in the Mining & Resources Sector.

Hosted in sunny Mackay, the event focused on key topics shaping the future of industrial radiation safety — from NORM (Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material) management and nucleonic density gauge applications to the evolving regulatory frameworks governing Australia’s resource operations.

As a proud major sponsor, SIStec was represented by Mike and Arif, who joined peers and professionals from across the mining and resources sector to share insights, exchange knowledge, and reinforce the industry’s collective commitment to safety, transparency, and compliance.

“Events like RSUG are crucial for maintaining open communication between radiation users, government bodies, and service providers,” said the SIStec team. “They give us the opportunity to stay aligned with best practices, contribute to ongoing improvement, and ensure the highest safety standards across Australia’s resource industries.”

Acknowledging Collaboration and Industry Leadership

SIStec extends its appreciation to Kathy Lawrenson and Philip Allanson from McKavanah Engineering Services (MES) for their leadership in coordinating another outstanding event, as well as to the RSUG community for fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing across the sector.

Special thanks also go to the 2025 RSUG presenters for sharing their expertise, and to our fellow major sponsors for helping make this year’s event possible:

A Shared Commitment to Safety and Innovation

The RSUG Conference continues to be a cornerstone event for Australia’s radiation safety community — strengthening collaboration across mining, energy, and industrial sectors, and ensuring radiation protection remains central to every operation.

SIStec is proud to support initiatives like RSUG that bring together the people, ideas, and innovation driving safer, smarter practices across Australia’s resources industry.

We look forward to seeing everyone again at the next RSUG event in 2026.
